Thanks for stopping by!

Feedback on the Waipa District Growth Strategy and Cambridge Structure Plans has now closed. We'll be presenting a final strategy to the community and starting the plan change process in September 2017.

If you gave us your feedback, we'll keep in touch and let you know when the final strategy is ready.

The planning cycle of a growth strategy

1.

Determine growth areas or what we call 'growth cells'

2.

Estimate based on growth predictions when each cell will need to be developed. There are a few criteria to meet before a growth cell can be developed - these include, having a structure plan in place, less than three years supply of land currently ready for development and less than three growth cells currently zoned for development. If developers meet this criteria, growth can happen earlier than we planned!

3.

Start to plan the specifics of a growth cell, where will roads go, what services will be provided - this is called a structure plan, learn more about these on the Cambridge page

4.

Consult with the community – what type of development do you want to see?

5.

Finalise the plan ready for the developer to start building
